Lawrence and I went to a bar/club this weekend for a friend’s going away party. This friend happened to be my younger brother’s best buddy in the world. Anyway, we are milling around this nightclub, and maybe it was just me, but I began to feel like I was too old to be there.
In the faces of the crowd, I spotted a girl who kinda looked like me at 21 years old. I watched my younger twin sing (shout) along to “Living on a Prayer”, shamelessly flirt with boys wearing Abercrombie & Fitch-type shirts, and wobble about in a sea of young girls who kept turning to each other and saying, “oh my gawd, I’m soooo drunk!!”
What’s the cut off age for clubbing – 25? 35? 45? Never?
Just trying to place myself on the scale of “old fart-ness”. A little self-awareness never hurt anyone. 🙂
Anyway, carry on with your Tuesday! Hope all is well with my beautiful readers.

I know what you mean, I don't really like going to clubs anymore, too many drunk people and drama. I remember the last time a group of us went out to a club we all thought, hmmm this is not as fun as it use to be- we rather be at home with friends drinking wine and playing Rock Band on xbox or going to other types of events like comedy clubs or laid back bars. I must admit though that I liked the feeling, because I was ready to move on from that part of my life.

I know what you mean! Alot of my favorite bars I feel too old to go to now! But I think you just need to find ones that you can stilol enjoy. I think certain age groups gravitate towards certain bars. I love to go dancing, so I hope I'm never to old to go out, but I'd definitely like to be in a place where I dion't feel old doing so!

The last time I went to a club was for my bachelorette. Prior to that … no idea, probably a year earlier!
We went to a club that is perfect for our age – mid 20s. Last time I went there, it wasn't as busy. Well, apparently everyone has discovered it, because it was disgustingly packed. (Which probably wouldn't have bothered me when I was 20 or 21, but was bothering me now!)
After that club we went to a club I'd never been to before. It's been around probably 4 years. It was great – less packed and I ran into tons of people I knew. Only downside? The music was too loud!
So I think the clubbing cut off is whenever you feel you're too old. Which for most people is around 24/25 years old! It was for me! I mean, if I'm 27 and saying the music is too loud, that's something!

I find I enjoy a cool lounge more than a noisey club these days. I love kareoke, but hate screaming over people. I'm not much into watching people overdrink and act up either.
Funny how things change!

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!! It's been so long since I've been to an actual club. I think I can safely say I passed the clubbing phase a few years ago. (Except maybe in Vegas. Everyone goes clubbing in Vegas, whether you're an old fart or not) 🙂
I'm now safely in the bar/lounge scene…and I'm cool with that.

i can't even remember the last time i was at a club. it may be a mix of getting older and living in a college town, but i'm glad to have moved on to a more relaxed bar/pub/lounge scene. i do agree w/ clubbing in vegas, because it's vegas! we plan to hit the clubs after our reception, too, since it ends early and lots of old college friends will be around.
ps. love your new blog look!!
