It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out the basics of Polyvore. (Really, it’s not that hard, perhaps I’ve just been out of school too long…) Just a few hours ago, I realized that “show image background” and “hide image background” are two concepts that make all the difference in the Polyvore world. Anyway, I hope the inspiration board I created decently portrays the style concepts behind our wedding.

I centered the board around a picture of our reception room at the Biltmore. In terms of style, I want to create an atmosphere filled with romance and vintage elegance. With some additional help from the images and boards of Snippet & Ink, this is what I came up with:

Biltmore Romance by carlysdreams

I realize my color palette is all over the road. Technically, our colors are black, white and gold. However, we are having an early summer wedding, and I can’t promise that splashes of color won’t creep in!
So, there you have it: an inspiration board! It was actually a lot of fun once I got the hang of it. And, better yet, this process has already really helped me to get organized. It is forcing me to sift through dozens of images I have collected and create a cohesive vision. If you are having trouble focusing, I would urge you to create an inspiration board or two at Polyvore. I’d be happy to help if you have any questions! 🙂 Image Sources: Row One (1,2,3,4) Row Two (1,2,3) Row Three (1,2,3) and a special thank you to Snippet and Ink.

Hey, Silvia! Thanks for the inspiration board love! The only way I have found (thus far) to add your own pics is by loading them onto Flickr, KodakGallery, Shutterfly, etc. From there you can clip your images to Polyvore. Let me know if that works…

Hmm … the reason I haven’t done an “inspiration board” is that it seems like I’d spend a lot of time doing. Not necessarily figuring it out (though I have no idea if I could figure it out easily), but the tweaking of it, fiddling with it, and finding more (and more) pictures.

I like your board, and it’s making me reconsider doing one.

    But not until January probably.

@ Krista: I hear ya. It is a bit time consuming. I’ve been fiddling with Polyvore for some time now. This post was a long time in the making! However, I really feel like I found a good sense of our wedding style once I made the board. For months I’ve kinda been all over the road (there goes that “organized mess” theory we discussed previously!)

I think it’s different for everyone. Some are lucky enough to have wedding coordinators who do it for you, others are mostly set on their vision.

If you have the time in January, I’d love to see what you come up with!
