Regardless of your political leanings, there should be little controversy over the fact that women are playing influential roles in this season’s election cycle.
One political woman that I have always admired is Elizabeth Edwards. I don’t know her stance on every issue. I haven’t read her book. But, for some reason, when I think of Mrs. Edwards and her media image there is something so genuine, so smart and so classy about her. She’s a strong woman. That’s why, after I watched this video clip of her recent interview with a Detroit newspaper, I couldn’t help but express further admiration for this beautiful woman.
Her insights into her own marriage can serve as advice for myself and other young women starting out on the road to married/cohabitating life. At the conclusion of her interview, she quotes the Leonard Cohen song, “Anthem”…
Ring the bells that still can ring.
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in.
