L and I have been in the market for a new couch. Our current couch depresses me. It is quite possibly the world’s ugliest piece of furniture ever made.

It was a hand-me-down from L’s cousin, and when I was in my early twenties I didn’t mind it. But now, I’m old(er), we’re married, and it’s time for something new!

So, Project Couch has been in effect. We both agree that we want quality. I’d like this couch to be around for years to come.

The shopping scene each weekend has gone a little like this: we go to Macy’s/CB2/Ethan Allen/whateverfurniturestore, and L is mesmerized by those huge sectionals a.k.a. the sports watcher’s wet dream. Comfort, convenience, no frills. Something kinda like this…

My reaction: “Wow, that’s a lot of couch you got there, hon. And do those seats recline?”I, on the other hand, wouldn’t mind something cute, stylish, and retro. Basically, the opposite of the sports watcher’s wet dream. Kinda like this…

His reaction: “It’s okay. But for the same price, we can get eight leather sectionals, and a matching leather ottoman!”
We’ve finally found a way to meet in the middle. I am really excited to reveal, what I hope, will be our new couch. I’ll post about it in a bit, because we are still figuring out the details. Have you gone furniture shopping with your honey yet? Any differences of opinion? 🙂

Just hopped on over from Glamour This! and LOVING the new design!

When the hubs and I went furniture-shopping, we decided to do it all in one day so that we wouldn't waste any time arguing/debating over different pieces. Luckily, I have sort of man-ish tastes when it comes to decor so it wasn't that bad. 😉

we got our couch from ikea. it's an "L" shaped couch, all blue fabric, clean lines, and comfy. also pulls out as a bed so we love that part. i call it our 'almost grown up' couch 🙂 can't wait to see what you decide.

LoL…oh man this sounds way too familiar.
There is the infamous fight at IKEA in which the boy wanted a leather couch and I wanted a red patterned one. And when I say infamous, I mean some of our closest friends still remember it and bring it up when I mention furniture shopping/decorating.
Can't wait to see what you both picked!!
