Anyone find the premise of the show Platinum Babies to be kinda redonkulous? I try not to judge a book by its cover. But this time, I feel compelled to judge this show by its previews (I have yet to watch it). It begs the question, could these people be any more self-indulgent, spoiled, and materialistic? I feel like I need to draw the line somewhere. I never watched Platinum Weddings. I did watch a few of MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen to get a good laugh. While I understand that these types of shows are meant to be pure entertainment, there are still a number of things that make them unpalatable for me. As I sometimes tell L, “I feel stupider for having watched ____ show.” (“The Hills”…I’m looking at YOU). L just shakes his head, because he clearly thinks I am overanalyzing. Do you watch Platinum Babies? If so, fill me in. Maybe there’s something I’m missing? I enjoyed this review of the show, by the way.

I refuse to watch Platinum babies because I am sure it is just like Platinum Weddings and that show drove me nuts. The amount of money that people spent on their weddings made me want to barf. I know that I don't know for sure because I have never had or probably will never have that amount of money but if I did I think I would much rather build a homeless shelter or an orphanage with the money that they choose to spend on a wedding! I don't know if I can take the platinum babies show, I might end up ruining my TV by pitching the remote at it 🙂

It is beyond terrible! I mean weddings are one thing, but showcasing pregnancy in this manner is not just crossing the line…it's jack hammering the whole street.

I will be blogging on this soon, but I can't find the strength to actually sit through an episode.

@Jeana: I totally feel you! I'm glad we are on the same page with this. I was thinking, why don't they do "Platinum Charities", and give some of the money away to needy people/causes?!?

@Melanie: I look forward to your post about this! Although I don't know if I could stomach sitting through an entire episode either 🙂

Wow, totally gross. I've watched Platinum weddings once or twice. I don't knock people who have money and can spend it. But regardless of income, is the spending necessary? That money could go to charities, homes, right? Seriously $1m weddings. I've gone to a few $100k weddings and thought the extravagance was a little too much.

Oh Carly I see you just said that about the charities. I am kinda intrigued by the show but since I'm in London, maybe it's a good thing I can't watch!
