Awhile back I was contemplating doing my own wedding make-up. I even wrote a post about it. In an ideal world where money grows on trees, I would have probably booked a professional in a heartbeat. But, unfortunately, my budget didn’t allow for a $150+ trial. So, what was Miss Glitter to do? I turned to the Weddingbee Classifieds! Through a quick search, I was introduced to Susie Chhuor: hair and makeup extraordinaire.

Susie had posted a Weddingbee advertisement for a $40 hair and make-up trial for the month of December. I emailed Susie letting her know of my interest and asked her if she would be willing to extend her December special to early January. She generously agreed. Also, I was pleased to learn that her studio is located 10 minutes from my house. I had a good feeling about this.

Before I post my trial pictures, let’s take a look at my inspirations.

My make-up inspiration: fresh, simple, and natural.

My hair inspiration: loose, romantic, and natural.

This picture was taken by Weddingbee PRO Amelia Lyon and the amazing hair and makeup was done by Amelia’s sister, Nicole DeAnne.

I showed up on our trial date wearing absolutely no make-up. I especially love how the camera captured the ginormous zit on my upper lip. Scroll down quickly, please.

In just under two hours, Susie sprinkled some fairy dust and worked her magic, and I left looking like this:

Here is what my hair looked like. Please keep in mind that we didn’t use any hair spray or product. It was morning time and I didn’t want stiff wedding hair all day long, so Susie just pinned it up to give us a rough idea of what it would look like on the day of. For effect, we added a fake flower.
For saavy DIY make-up bees or just in case you are curious, Susie was nice enough to provide me with a list of the makeup she used:

Face:
Smashbox Photo finish Primer
Make Up Forever HD Foundation in 125 mixed with Cinema Secrets to get the right balance for your skin type
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
LORAC Oil Free Wet/Dry Powder (used sparingly because my face was not too oily)

Eyes:
MAC Bare Study
MAC Eye Shadows: Shroom, Carbon, Espresso
MAC Eye Brow Pencil in Lingering
K-Palette 24 Hour Tattoo Liner
Handmade False Lashes ordered especially Hong Kong a full and natural look

Blush/Bronzer/Highlight:
NARS Orgasm
Benefit HighBeam
Clinique Touch of Bronze #3

Lips:
MAC Angel mixed with MAC Hug Me
Lancome Juicy Tube in Tickled Pink (I think this is discontinued)

Ultimately, I was very impressed with Susie. She was professional, friendly, talented, and within my price range. We worked well together, and I am happy to report I am booking her for my wedding day!

Have you recently been offered a wedding vendor deal you can’t refuse?

Wow … that’s pretty much exactly the look you were hoping for, isn’t it? That’s what I envisioned based on your post.

Btw, I just discovered I’m a stalker, because I didn’t need to click on the link to remind myself of the post to which you’re referring.
