Many Bees have blogged about stumbling blocks in the wedding planning process. For one reason or another, they have hit the planning brakes, whether it be money, logistics, family, etc. I can now attest to their frustrations and tears as I add my name to the list of stumblers.

My budget and I are currently at war with one another. Most of our vendors have been wonderful to work with. Generally, they have tried to work within specified price ranges and attempted to find creative ways to save a buck. That’s not really the problem. The problem is that whatever way you slice it, our bank account is dwindling.

We are nearing the four month mark. We are getting down to the nitty gritty. My little dreams cut out of various back issues of Martha Stewart Weddings and glued together with hope and love have now turned into concrete realities; all with price tags attached to them. Many items are stepping outside of the budget we created many moons ago, and I am at a standstill. I’m the type of person that only likes to make a “to do” list when I know I can scratch off a few “to do’s” here and there. But right now, mainly due to financial concern, I feel like I am accomplishing nothing.

I am fortunate to have some of the big things scratched off the list. And, I should divulge, we are spending a pretty penny on the ceremony and reception venue. But that was always in the cards and we knew how to prepare for that. Now it is all about the details – the odds and ends that make each wedding unique. It is overwhelming, and lately, its been tough to handle.

We have been engaged for nearly two years. We’ve been together for nearly six years. I’m ready to get this marriage party started. This long engagement is quickly losing its luster. The Glitters aren’t so sparkly right now. I hope this slump subsides…soon!

I’ve noticed this topic tends to rear its ugly head every now and then. Any others feeling overwhelmed for one reason or another?

I know how you feel. I’m in the begining of planning, but we spent so much on the venue and people keep gettign added to the guest list, so our budget for all the details is slimming down fast.

I am a huge details girl and it stresses me out that they will be the first things cut.

I have a year and a half to plan, but I already know we are going to have to make a lot of sacrifices, so it can be hard when making plans.
