Maybe I’m not re-inventing the wheel with all these gift giving posts. But, holiday season will be upon us before we know it and the overarching theme of gift giving this year will be…drumroll please…affordability!! Oooh, doesn’t that sound sexxxy? Affordable, economical, budget-friendly, cheap. However you slice it, I need to tighten our budget on gifts this year.

In past years, I have been part of the enormous procrastinating herd of people that goes Christmas shopping two days before the big day. Terrible, just dreadful. This year will be different (I swear). I am going to take advantage of all the online bargains I can find. Case in point: many of our friends and loved ones will get books this year purchased from online sales at Borders.com and Amazon.com. Amazon.com always has good deals. I will be jumping from site to site to attempt to find the best prices. Books can be good gifts for the bridal party, too. Do you buy books online? Are there sites with better deals than Amazon?

Here are some interesting selections I will be considering:

Martha’s New One: Who doesn’t want cooking tips from Martha?

The ever-popular Twilight Series: L and I checked this out at the Borders store last night. It was 50% more in-store than online!

For the Green Crowd: Hot and crowded? Sounds like Los Angeles.

Personalized gifts can be thoughtful and inexpensive. For example, customized address stamps can be purchased from etsy (I bought mine from a seller called terbearco) for $13 American (the Canadian dollar was about par at the time).

Not a bad price for a very personalized gift!

There are at least a dozen sellers that make these stamps. Terbearco is: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5160878.
