I have been desperately searching every nook and cranny of my brain for inspiration. This has gone on for awhile. I love to feel inspired, and I feel like my creative juices have dried up, and all my brain power has been taken up by trying to answer futile questions like, “Why am I not pregnant?” and “Why do we have so many bills?” All of that is a part of my life, but man, how freaking depressing!

I was aimlessly hunting around online earlier today, and came across some beautiful journals on Anthropologie’s website. I stared at the pictures, and for the first time in a long time, I felt inspired.

I am considering starting a journal again. Not like the kind I kept in middle school. “Dear Diary, Today I went to school. Then I came home.” More like an unstructured collection of my thoughts, inspirations, snippets of life, recipes, etc. (Recipes. Did you catch that one? Bahaha!) Blogs can be journals, but mine really hasn’t been that way for a long time. Who knows? Maybe a written journal will help inspire some ideas for the blog.

It’s the beginning of the year which means I am still allowed to believe I can successfully integrate personal projects like this into my life, right?

Where do you find inspiration for blog posts? Where do you find creative inspiration for your life? Ever feel like you are caught in a creative funk?

I crave inspiration all the time! Sometimes I got onto Etsy and just spend hours looking at stuff and presto! I'm inspired. Not that I could ever make anything awesome but the instant surge in energy and positivity is really awesome.

What a wonderful idea. I've also been thinking about keeping a hand written journal. When I watch shows like Grey's Anatomy, and the lead character has all of her mom's journals, I think what a treasure that might be one day for someone.

I actually still have the "dear diary" kind.. I write about things that I don't necessarily want to TALK about. Or sometimes I pre-write out my blog post 🙂 I'm obsessed with pretty journals. Oh, I started my personal blog back up.. check it out http://autumn-rain.com

I can relate to this! I get SUPER practical, which usually turns a bit depressing. I NEED to feed the creative flow inside me to feel fulfilled. My go to places – Nature is #1. Going for a walk in a park, creating an artistic, relaxed environment, and going from there. Changing the setting can change my mood and help inspire that portion of my brain. I keep a journal periodically. My "diary" is NOT my blog. There is so much more going on, that the blog usually just scratches the surface.
I find that I can be inspired by little things, or big things. A favorite thing to do is to pick one thing – maybe the flame of a candle as it flickers and gives you light to write by, or maybe the distant flame of a star, or the savoring the taste of a favorite food – and writing down whatever comes to mind can help you tap into so much inspiration.
It sounds once again like you're really on the right track with this! 🙂

I often find inspiration is changing what music I am listening too. Like the other day on Spotify it had a thing about Otis Redding and it really was like a fresh wave of wanting to cook comforting food and draw since it was a change from what I normally hear.
Other times it is from looking at my coffee table style books, one in particular called When Wanders Cease to Roam is full of beautiful things and thoughts which makes me want to create the same.

@More Than Rubies: Oh man, I loved Etsy when I was wedding planning! I haven't really been on there in so long.

@Our Wired Lives: Yes! I've always thought a handwritten journal was a good thing to keep. 🙂

@Chanel: Yay! I'll add your new blog to my reader.

@J. Darling: So many good, inspiring ideas! I crave nature. City life is nice and all, but I really miss the beauty of a more rural setting. Good luck with feeding your creative flow! 🙂

@hemborgwife: Love, love, love getting inspired by music!
