This morning I had my two week post-op appointment. I was so nervous, as I usually am, but I was also excited to finally speak directly with my doctor!

She sat L and I down, and we discussed the surgery. She showed us before and after pictures of my uterus, and all I can say is, WOW. She cleaned house, and oh boy, did I have a messy house down there!
First, she shared pictures of my uterine polyps. I had a ton of them! Those little shitheads are likely the reason there was very little chance I could’ve ever gotten pregnant pre-surgery. Polyps like to hang out and make it nearly impossible for an embryo to implant. So glad they’re gone…for now. Of course, they can grow back. Boo to that.
Next, she showed me the endometriosis. My endometriosis was so ugly. Usually it looks like patches of discolored stickiness. Of course mine looked unusually odd, and almost bubbly. Most of it was found in the back of my uterus. Strangely, the front of my uterus was clean. Woo hoo!
I had two endometriomas (chocolate cysts). Endometriomas are blood filled cysts on your ovaries. I had one cyst on each ovary. They looked huge in the pictures, but apparently, they were pretty “normal” in size. My doctor got rid of one cyst completely. The other she wasn’t able to completely zap, so she did the best she could. She tried to clean it out so that hopefully it won’t grow back.
Either way, endometriomas can grow back, as can endometriosis. Apparently, my vagina keeps itself quite busy! (cue tasteless jokes)
After scary show and tell, my doctor checked my incisions, which she said are healing quite well. I told her (sorry TMI) I had some brown discharge which she said was completely normal. My body is still healing itself.
Then we got to the nitty gritty. Where to go from here? My doctor is advocating that I stay on birth control for the next two months. After that, it’s serious Baby Mambo time.
We can try for a baby in TWO months!!!!
I am so, so excited, happy, and scared. At first, I thought I should hold back and not say anything so I don’t jinx it. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I spend a lot of time wallowing over bad news. I’m glad to have some good news and something to look forward to for once!
No promises over whether we will get pregnant, but I am hopeful. If it doesn’t happen naturally after three or four months, we will have to re-adjust our plan at that time.
My doc is in the process of confirming this plan with a fertility specialist colleague. Hopefully, her colleague will agree. We’ll find out in a bit.
I am so thankful for this experience, my doctor, and INSURANCE. A bill arrived yesterday in the amount of $49,500.
You must be out yo’ freakin’ mind, people!
Anyway, have a great weekend, everyone! Enjoy yourselves.

Even WITH great insurance, I'm STILL paying off my medical bills from surgery last July! Let me know if you need any help decyphering it. That's my business. Being a coder saves me a A LOT of money. Even GREAT doctors (which it sounds like yours is) don't necessarily understand their billing!

(PS – yeah – don't worry about the "discharge" I had it for about 2 weeks post op. It's basically clotting being passed. Your hoo-ha was not designed to be camera friendly!)
