The other night, L was taking some shots of the dogs. (Don’t hate on us. We don’t have kids or expensive housewares, so we take too many pictures of our mini four-legged friends, ok?)

Henry was working on his poses, because he wants to be a model when he grows up. I think he has a real chance at a promising career, says my inner pageant mom.

Henry’s money shot for Playgirl.

When we first got Hank, Emma (our other dog) hated him. She had terrible only child syndrome, which was my fault because I treated her like royalty. It was ridiculous, and I am too embarrassed to tell you stories of how spoiled she was. So you can only imagine what happened when little H came along. Let’s just say they couldn’t be near each other without Emma throwing a tantrum and making this very unattractive face. Henry was an instigator, and tried to torture her every chance he got. But now, five months later….

We have progress, people.

A couple of shots of the dogs relaxing together on our beautiful couch that we covered with my childhood duvet (to protect it from the pooches). Note in the background, Emma is completely asleep!

And here’s a last one that I included just for my mom. It turns out that Henry takes after my mom who is notorious in our family for closing her eyes in every picture.

Are you like us and take too many pictures of your pets? Also, if you have more than one pet, are they friends? How long did it take for them to get used to each other?

ohh I take way too many pictures of my animals! I also don't have kids so it is what it is. I love all your shots. I have two dogs (got them at the same time) and a cat. We got the dogs when they were about 8 weeks old so the cat showed her motherly side and took to them pretty quickly. I'm pretty sure though the three of them would be pretty upset if I tried to bring home another animal! Good to hear that there is progress with your two!

Oh I take tons of pictures of our babies! We have 2 dogs who are brothers (same parents, different liter, 8 months apart). Kobe (yes, my husband is a die hard Laker fan) is the older one and he is beyond loyal to us…to the point where he feels he is our protector. When my husband and I are watching tv on the sofa, Kobe is either snugly burrowing himself in between us or resting his head on one of our legs. When Fisher (the younger one) even comes close, Kobe starts growling and Fisher stops in his steps and tells us through his puppy eyes that he wants some lovin'. One of us usually will call his name and he'll take the longer route to avoid Kobe and jump onto the sofa and snuggle next to us. For the most part they get along and play fight once every couple days but it gets serious when Fisher tries to steal Kobe's treats, after he has finished his own. Nevertheless, they are wonderful company and never fail to make me smile and make my heart feel all warm and fuzzy inside. =)

Btw, what kind of dog is Emma? She's adorable! Is she a poodle? Ours are cocker spaniel/poodle mix.

    Adorable! I want a puppy… 🙁

We have 2 cats and they're the loves of my life (my husband comes in at a close 2nd.) And yes, I take way too many pictures of them. Mostly on my iPhone because it's always near me. I'm actually embarrassed when people to look through my iPhone pics because of how many are of my boys.

The boys are brothers from the same litter so there's never been a problem (they're so damn cute together), but I do worry about the day we bring home a puppy or, gulp, a child. We'll probably get a dog before we have a kid, though. Again, I want one (a dog) nowwww!

Clydas (my boxer dog) has had 3 cats in the past. He clearly felt the cats were there to play with HIM! He even brought his tennis ball to one of them, dropped it in front of them and excitedly waited for the cat to start playing with him and the ball he was sharing! The cat just looked at the ball and the dog and hissed.

Clydas "has" cats. He clearly thinks they are his toys and there for him to play with and chase. He LOVES having them around. The cats? Well, they aren't amused when a 55lb dog comes at them.

When I got divorced, the ex took one cat, and I kept the other (and, of course, Clydas). It's been several years since then (and 2 cats later – no, he didn't kill 'em – they snuck out and were eaten by coyotes or found more suitable homes).

Vance was the coolest cat ever. While he didn't love Clydas, he LOVED people! I miss him!

As a single mom of three adorable pups, I can tell you that it is something else when you bring a new baby in! My oldest, CiCi, was pretty spoiled, as well, but she did better than expected when MuChi came home. CiCi did pretty great when I rescued Wilkie, but MuChi was offended! He was like, "Um, Mom, why did you bring this dog that looks like me in here?" It took them about 3-4 months to straighten things out and now they play like normal. I also took them on long walks together and forced them to be with one another. It's been harder with Wilkie because he is SUCH a high energy dog, where the other two are content to chill half the time. Your babies are ADORABLE!

I LOVE HENRY! & yes, I take pictures of Derby, our rescue pup, daily. How could you not? She is clearly the cutest thing that has ever walked this earth! 😉

First of all whoever takes the photos in your family is amazingly talented, those pooches are adorable and very photogenic! Second, this post could not be more timely! We just adopted our second pup on Saturday. We knew we wanted two, but with the wedding stuff we decided one at a time was wise. We thought now would be good b/c we wanted to get the second dog before Lucy developed "only dog" syndrome. She and the new pup got on very well until we signed the adoption papers, then Lucy started snapping and barking whenever she was near him. The first couple days were terrible. I went to bed crying the first night, sure I'd made a horrible mistake but loving the new dog. Well, those two days were exhausting in and of themselves, and now things have calmed down, and they are getting along 95% of the time. There have been some seemingly vicious squabbles though- mostly over food. Lucy isn't food aggressive but the new dog is, so we know that will be our biggest challenge. I guess some things just take time. A lady from the rescue group put it this way "You can't just throw two strangers in the same house and expect them to be best friends." Indeed!
