Last week was kind of a bust, but there are a few things that kept my spirits up.

I “power walked” two miles three evenings in a row around our neighborhood, and two and a half miles on Sunday afternoon.

HIGHLIGHT: We live about five or six blocks from a police station. As we strolled across the street from the station, we walked past two guys smoking weed OUTSIDE on the corner. Seriously? Do that in the privacy of your home like any self-respecting weed smoker would. Sheesh.

I saw my Korean aunties (my MIL has three sisters) at L’s cousin’s USC graduation dinner. I love my Korean aunties. They always give me warm hugs, and tell me I look good (even if it’s not true).

HIGHLIGHT: When L’s keun-guh eemoh (what we call our oldest auntie in Korean) stroked my belly and said, “you’re next”. It wasn’t one of those crazy, borderline harassing/rude “hurry up and get pregnant” comments. It was so endearing.

I found some awesome jeans at Gap! (Thanks to lovely reader, Heidi, for her recommendation. I haven’t bought Gap jeans in years, and I forgot how great they fit.)

HIGHLIGHT: At the register, the saleslady gave me a scratch-off coupon. I scratched and got $20 off my jeans! Hell yes.

L found his idea of heaven, The Container Store. It was our first visit, and he was like a kid in a candy store. I was cracking smart-ass jokes the whole time.

HIGHLIGHT: Secretly I was a total geek and loving all the cool storage bins, too. That place is fun.

L got the most belated birthday present ever from me: a Tumi wallet that he is in love with. The smile on his face made me really happy.

HIGHLIGHT: The sales guy made a wise crack about my very long Japanese maiden name. I mouthed off to him, and burned him with my Asian laser eyes. Submissive geisha girl? I don’t think so.

I had a few conversations with my husband while he was completely asleep. L’s a sleep talker.

HIGHLIGHT: Even while sleeping, he told me I was pretty and kissed my forehead. Or maybe he was dreaming that he was married to Jessica Alba? If so, that ain’t no highlight.

It all goes to show that a little good goes a long way, especially when you have not-so-great things going on in your life.

How have you all been doing lately? Any random good stories about your week/weekend/month/etc.? Do tell.

One of my best pair of jeans are from Gap – you never know!
I have conversations with my husband while he's sleeping too! Well actually he talks about really random things but it's funny.

Ha. I sometimes think my husband would like to be married to Jessica Alba too … but then I remember when he proposed and the vows he said on our wedding day and the fact that Jessica would never go for him -and I smile 🙂 Happy to see some highlights from your weekend.

Yay! Glad you found some at Gap! I loved your highlights! Both hubby and I talk in our sleep. I don't think we've ever had a conversation while we're both sleeping, but who knows! We do mess with each other though when the other one is clearly sleeping!

    I like your highlights. 🙂
We saw Iron Man 2 and ate dinner together. It was the first night in so long where we got to do that. Definitely a highlight!
