My laptop is under the weather right now so my blogging has all but come to a screeching halt. We have a desktop at home that works fine, but there is something amiss when I can’t blog from my laptop. No curling up on the bed with the TV on in the background while I read through my favorite blogs, sip my icy Sprite, and concoct blog posts. It’s my little ritual, and now it’s all screwy. I also count my blogging as my private time, but now I can’t hide in my (our) room (and kick L out). I have to sit in the living room and attempt to write. Wah! What big problems I have, no? When my laptop started losing steam, I began furiously checking the internet from my Blackberry. But the thing about my Blackberry is that it takes so damn long to load anything that it is basically useless if I want to comment on a blog or do anything interactive. So I am left feeling rather disconnected.
On the brighter side of things, my days seem so much longer without so much mindless internet time. My husband is a happy man, because my face isn’t fiercely glued to the computer screen all evening. I am actually listening to what he says, and responding to his inquiries in an appropriate amount of time. L had pretty much given up on having conversations with me while I was online, because he knew whatever he told me, he’d have to repeat because I wasn’t really listening. (Generally, he has to do that a lot anyway, because I have a listening problem. Sorry, honey! I’m working on it, I swear.)
They say that staring at a computer screen for long periods of time causes you to blink less. So, there’s another bright side.

Also, I picked up a book the other day. That’s right. An honest to goodness book. I haven’t done that in awhile. I think I even amazed myself, because I spent a good portion of that evening congratulating myself for picking up said book.
So there you have it. I am blinking more, I seem to have more time during my day to listen to my husband, and I picked up a book. Three upsides to giving up my internet addiction. Is my laptop better yet?!
Anyone else addicted to the internet? (Am I preaching to the choir?)

This is totally me dear! I stay up late internet window shopping or reading blogs. It's very much me time. Yes my husband also appreciates when I have more time for him though!

Especially since getting sick I pretty much spend all day blog stalking. I have to force myself to blog only once a day. And my hard drive died about a month ago. It was no fun.

I spend way too much time on the internet. My fiance just sighs and rolls his eyes (although he can't complain- he is just as bad at video games).

I have been loving your blog- keep up the good work!
I also nominated your blog as a Beautiful Blog Award winner- it's a small little award that us bloggers give out to each other. If you want to read more about it, check out my blog:
