Our wedding will welcome guests from ages 1 to 85 years old. You can’t please everyone, especially when it comes to music, but I wanted our song list to appeal to a wide range of peeps. It’s tough because we have several older guests coming who are notorious for not dancing. We want everyone to have fun and get up and at least dance a few songs! It is A PARTY after all.

We hope to create two different “moods” at the reception. During dinner, we will stay safe, classy, and upbeat with Sinatra-like music. After the meal, we want an infusion of current and old school songs. If our all-night open bar doesn’t encourage people to get loose, well then…it’s hopeless. πŸ™‚

Here is a sampling of the tunes list we gave our DJ.

Dinner Time Music (Sinatra, Buble or similar…but nothing too cheesy to the point that we will feel like we are eating at one of those old Italian restaurants. Love those restaurants, but I don’t want to overdo it at dinner.)

Michael Buble – Sway
Michael Buble – Summer Wind
Michael Buble – Everything
Frank Sinatra – You Make me Feel So Young
Frank Sinatra- Nice N’ Easy
Frank Sinatra – Night and Day

Reception Music (Mr. G and I love hip hop amongst many other genres. But we have tamed our list down so that guests like my grandparents don’t run out covering their ears.)

Kanye West – Good Life
Michael Jackson – Rock with You
Michael Jackson – PYT
Neil Diamond – Sweet Caroline
Jason Mraz – I’m Yours
Jason Mraz – Lucky
Aretha Franklin – Respect
The Righteous Brothers – You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling
Jackson 5 – I Want You Back
Three Dog Night – Joy to the World
Al Green – Let’s Stay Together
Elton John – Bennie and the Jets
Billy Joel – It’s Still Rock n Roll to Me
John Mellencamp – Jack and Diane
Marvin Gaye – Let’s Get It On
Marvin Gaye – Marvin Gaye
Al Green – Let’s Stay Together
Dianna Ross – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough
Santana Feat. Rob Thomas – Smooth
Steve Miller Band – The Joker
The Temptations – My Girl
R. Kelly – Ignition (Remix)
Jagged Edge – Wifey – (How could we not?)
Jagged Edge – Where the Party At
Jagged Edge Feat. Run DMC – Let’s Get Married (Remix) – (Again, how could we not?)
T.I. Feat. Justin Timberlake – Dead And Gone
Justin Timberlake – Like I Love You
Justin Timberlake – Rock Your Body
Keri Hilson Feat. Kanye West & Ne-Yo – Knock You Down
Katy Perry – Hot N Cold
Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow
Leona Lewis – Better In Time

The list is a work in progress. I’m so excited for our reception – a chance to just sit back, relax, and enjoy everything. Mr. G’s one stipulation was that people don’t get bored and nod off during the reception. I hope we can achieve that goal…

Have you been gearing up your song list to appeal to different age groups? Are you worried the older crowd won’t dance?
