Lawrence and I had a very busy weekend! Actually, recently it seems that every weekend is jam packed with errands, wedding stuff, family obligations, friend gatherings, etc. It’s tiring but I am starting to feel somewhat efficient. Who knew?

I call this past weekend, “Retail Therapy” because we watched a lot of money fly out of our wallets. Here is a sampling of where our money went:

1) Bought a new desk at Ikea. I finally have a “work space” at home now. I do a fair amount of work from home, but have never had a proper desk! My desktop computer has been sitting on our kitchen/dining table for as long as I can remember. (dreadful!) But now thanks to Lawrence’s handyman qualities, I now have a delightful work space.

2) Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred and hand weights. I have been testing out Jillian’s Shred for the past couple of weeks via Exercise TV’s free recorded workouts. Like many of her loyal fans, I have grown somewhat addicted to Jillian’s quick and efficient workouts, so I finally broke down and bought it from Amazon.com. I’ve been doing the workout thus far without 5 lb. hand weights, and was still working up a good sweat. I assume that tonight when I attempt it with weights, I may keel over. (More on this later, if I survive)

3) In-N-Out Burger. Lawrence and I have been fabulous about eating in, saving money, and avoiding fast food. But In-N-Out doesn’t count as fast food, does it? Ahhhh, LOVE it.

4) Made the mistake of dropping into Anthropologie, and left with a few pieces that I will reveal in future posts. That place is so dangerous.

5) Oh, and last week I purchased a pair of $40 heels online, but they haven’t arrived yet. I don’t want to show a picture of them before I see them in person, because I am still unsure as to whether I will like them or not. They will either be hideous or fabulous. Most likely nothing in between.

I keep feeling guilty about the money spent over the past couple of days. However, maybe I can rationalize it as a contribution to a suffering U.S. economy? Yeah, I’ll use that excuse 🙂

Here we are (in the infamous self-taken picture) enjoying time together. Why did Monday have to roll around?!

How was your weekend? Do anything fun or note-worthy? Or did you just stay in and relax?
xoxo,
carly

Your weekend sounded very therapeutic! The FH and I also did some shopping and some registering which turned out to be a lot of fun.

    Love the desk!

@ My Dream Ring: Thanks, hon. And I am a big Ikea fan! Btw, I officially moved you to my “special” blog section on the left hand side of my home page. I love reading your posts!

@ Kiana: Haha! Yes, the lamp is also Ikea! I bought it a few years ago for my grad school apartment, and it matches with everything. As you can see, I am still making use out of it!!

@LauraAnn: Ahhh, registering. It can be so much fun!

First of all, yes I did the same. While my fiance and I have been doing a great deal of saving for our wedding and future, for some reason we found a reason to buy a Wii this weekend. How do we justify it? “Oh it will pay for itself” — which somewhat it will I guess, since we got it we didn’t go out at all this weekend haha.

And last… I worked for In-N-Out for 8 years, there is no way that counts as fast food — I would always tell customers, “It’s not fast food, it’s food made fast.” Haha =)
